28 Years Later takes place nearly three decades after the original Rage virus outbreak that destroyed civilization in the UK. The virus which turns people into violent and fast moving killers was believed to be gone or at least contained. But that is not true anymore.

The story this time focuses on a 12 year old boy who grows up in a secluded and safe community which is cut off from the rest of the infected world. Everything he knows is based on what the adults around him have told him that the infected are dangerous monsters and that stepping outside the safe zone is death. But when he starts questioning these beliefs, a new journey begins of one that might uncover hidden truths about the virus, humanity, and survival.

Filming Locations: 28 Days Later was famously shot in empty London streets while 28 Years Later takes us to the opposite end of the UK with focus on rural areas and new communities.

Inspiration: The film is influenced by recent real world events such as Brexit (the UK’s political isolation) and the COVID-19 pandemic which brought real feelings of fear, isolation and survival.

Franchise Plan: This movie is expected to kick off a new trilogy. Yes, 28 Years Later is the beginning of a new chapter, with at least two more movies planned (28 Months Later? 28 Decades Later? We’ll see!).
