دی 21st Westbury National Tennis Championship began on Thursday at the Karachi Club, with more than 230 players taking part in different categories, according to the event organizers.
The first day featured qualifying matches for the Men’s Singles and Juniors Under-18 Singles events. The main draw for the Men’s Singles also got underway.
In the Men’s Singles qualifiers, Arham Shahzad dominated Fawaz Ali Tejani with an 8-0 win. Jawed Khan also cruised past Maula Madad 8-0, while Yasir Fazli beat M. Fawaz 8-1. M. Essa Jee won against Amaan Garrison 8-2, and Farman Ali narrowly defeated M. Hamza Essa Jee 8-6 in a close match.
In the Juniors U-18 qualifiers, Zayd Ali easily beat Khuzaima 8-0. Ahsan Ali won 8-1 against Hafiz Basit Ali, Zain Nomi blanked Ahmed Kath 8-0, and Yahya Bin Zain defeated Hamza Essa Jee 8-0.
At the same time, the first round of the Men’s Singles main draw also began. Laraib Shamsi secured a solid 8-2 victory over Shahmeer Usman, while Abdullah Tahseen delivered a similar performance by defeating Zeeshan Garrison, also 8-2.
