Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle just had a huge opening in Japan, earning around ¥6 billion (about $40.6 million) in its first weekend. That’s actually more than Mugen Train made in its first weekend — ¥4.6 billion (about $44 million back then).
This is the first movie in a three-part ending to Tanjiro’s story. People in Japan packed the theaters and started talking about it online right away — mostly about how good it looked and how intense some of the scenes were.
The studio, Ufotable, has been behind the anime since 2019, and it looks like they’ve kept the same high quality.
It’s not just the fight scenes — some of the emotional stuff really hit home for a lot of fans.
Infinity Castle keeps that same mix of action, drama, and tough moments. The Demon Slayers are racing against time, taking on the strongest demons left.
Their goal: to reach and defeat their ultimate enemy, Muzan.
Now, the big question is: can Infinity Castle break Mugen Train’s all-time record? That record stands at over $507 million worldwide.
Some folks thought Mugen Train only did so well because it came out when there weren’t many other movies playing during COVID. But Infinity Castle’s huge success shows that the Demon Slayer franchise is strong on its own, no matter the situation.
The film will be released in the U.S. and Canada on September 12, 2025, where it’s expected to do very well. That will be the real test to see if it can beat Mugen Train globally.
Mugen Train changed the anime industry forever. It showed the world how powerful and profitable anime movies can be. Now Infinity Castle has a chance to go even further — and fans everywhere will be watching.
