Students across Punjab have just received some good news — the summer vacation has been extended for all public and private schools in the province. The Punjab School Education Department confirmed the decision on Wednesday, saying the extra break would give families more time together before the academic year fully restarts.
As mentioned in the official notification dated August 7, the summer holidays — which were earlier set to end in the middle of August — will now run from August 14 until August 31, 2025. Schools are set to open their doors again on Monday, September 1, with classes returning to their usual schedule.
Officials explained that the extension had been signed off by the Competent Authority and follows an earlier notice issued on May 20, 2025.

The extended holiday schedule applies to every school operating under the Punjab School Education Department, whether public or private. District Education Authority (DEA) CEOs have been told to make sure all schools strictly follow the updated plan.
The announcement has also cleared up a wave of confusion caused by a fake notification that had been circulating on social media just a day earlier. That false notice claimed that the summer holidays had already been extended, which the department at the time had denied. Officials had urged the public to ignore unverified information and rely only on confirmed updates.
With today’s official notification, there’s no room for doubt — schools across Punjab will remain closed until the end of August, giving students two more weeks of summer before heading back to their classrooms.
