Model and actor Humaira Asghar Ali was found dead in her rented apartment in DHA Phase VI, Karachi, and police believe she may have passed away nearly six months ago.
The 32-year-old’s body, which had started to decompose, was discovered when police and a court bailiff broke into her fourth-floor flat in the Ittehad Commercial area. Officers were responding to concerns after she hadn’t been seen or heard from in a long time.

According to DIG South Syed Asad Raza, a team including police surgeon Dr. Summaiya Syed and SSP South Mahzoor Ali visited the apartment and found signs suggesting she had died around September 2024. Items in the fridge, like bread and milk, had expiry dates from that month. Investigators also noted that both SIM cards in her phone stopped working around the same time.
Moreover, K-Electric had disconnected the electricity in October because of outstanding payments.
The police contacted her family in Lahore after recognizing her, but her father declined to take her remains. However, her brother-in-law later reached out to the police and mentioned that he would travel to Karachi to meet them. As word circulated that her family had rejected her body, numerous prominent figures from the entertainment world contacted the authorities, volunteering to organize her funeral.
DIG Raza said the police would hand over the body to them if the family still refused.
As of now, the exact cause of Humaira’s death is unknown. A chemical examination report is awaited to determine how she died.
