The popular Japanese science fiction thriller Alice in Borderland is officially returning for a third season.
Netflix officially renewed the show for a third season on September 27, 2023 and now the long wait is finally over. Netflix has confirmed that the new season will premiere on September 25, 2025.
The series follows Ryōhei Arisu played by Kento Yamazaki and Yuzuha Usagi played by Tao Tsuchiya. They try to survive in a strange and deserted version of Tokyo. People are forced to play deadly games in this twisted world known as the Borderland. Each game is linked to a playing card — the higher the number or harder the suit, the more dangerous the challenge. If players do not win in time, they are killed by laser beams from the sky.
What to Expect in Alice in Borderland Season 3
Season 3 picks up after Arisu and Usagi have escaped the Borderland and are now living a peaceful married life. But they still face flashbacks of brutal and horrifying games they played .In a dramatic and shocking turn, Usagi suddenly disappears. A mysterious man named Ryuji (played by Kento Kaku) who is studying the afterlife misguides her.
Banda who is now a resident of the Borderland reveals that Usagi has returned there. Arisu decides to go back to the deadly world to find and save her.

Global Success of Alice in Borderland Season 3
Not only has the show done well on Netflix but it also helped boost the popularity of the manga. Creator Haro Aso even released a follow up manga titled Alice in Borderland: Retry to celebrate the series’ Netflix adaptation. This short series ran from October 2020 to January 2021 and was published in Weekly Shōnen Sunday.
