The German Embassy in Islamabad has introduced a new Consular Services Portal to make it easier and faster for Pakistanis to apply for work visas. This new system is now live at digital.diplo.de/visa. The purpose of this new system is to speed up the visa application process by removing the need for long waiting lists.
Applicants can now complete a simple questionnaire, upload their documents and get their application reviewed before they go for an in person appointment. However applicants will still need to visit the embassy to verify their identity, give biometric data and pay the visa fee.
The German Embassy Islamabad opens the Consular Services Portal for all employment visa. This will speed up processes and increases the number of visa.

The portal supports several types of work visas including:
- Skilled Employment Visas
- EU Blue Card
- Opportunity Card (Chancenkarte)
- Self-Employment
- Degree Recognition for Pakistani Qualifications
The embassy is encouraging people who haven’t yet received an appointment to start using the new portal. In the coming months, even more visa categories will be moved to this system to make things smoother.
Change in Germany Visa Appointment System
Meanwhile, the German Consulate General in Karachi has also updated its visa appointment procedure due to overwhelming demand.
Now instead of booking appointments directly, applicants must register on a waiting list. The consulate will then assign appointments based on registration date and availability. This new rule applies to both Schengen and long-term visa applications except for Opportunity Card applications which can still be booked directly.
The consulate explained that this waiting list system was introduced to better manage the high number of visa requests and to allocate appointments more fairly.
