Why Malala Cares About Sports
Malala Yousafzai mentions that while growing up in Sawat Pakistan, I saw boys participating in sports but girls lacking chance. Boys used to rush to playgrounds but girls kept staring during breaktime in my school days. So I have deep empathy for girls who want to partake in sports and I want to uplift them by using the means and resources I have.
What Recess Will Do
Recess plans to back both professional and amateur women teams.
They are focusing on big leagues first and seeking association with the U.S. National Women Soccer League (NWSL) and the Women National Basketball Association (WNBA).
Their goal is to support athletes all over the world and provide them sponsorships and funding.
Women in sports often struggle for sponsorships and media coverage. Recess aims to change that by using Malala’s global platform and Asser’s sports business experience. They want to show investors that supporting women athletes is not just the right thing to do but it is also a smart move that can grow the sport for everyone.
