The summer holidays for schools and colleges have now been announced in different parts of Pakistan with each province setting its own schedule based on local weather conditions.
دی Federal Directorate of Education in Islamabad has announced that all schools and colleges will be closed for summer break from June 5 to August 1, 2025. Students and teachers will return to school on Monday, August 4.
School timings in Islamabad have been adjusted to make things easier before the holidays begin. From May 26 single shift schools will run from 7:30 am to 12:30 pm while double-shift schools will hold their classes in the evening to avoid the midday heat. Meanwhile students in BS and ADP programs will continue their studies as usual without any changes in their schedule.
Summer holidays in Punjab will start even earlier. Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat announced that all schools will be closed from May 28, 2025. School hours have also been changed along with this. Now classes will begin at 7:30 am and end at 11:30 am to protect students from the heat. The School Education Department earlier had suggested the holidays would be from June 1 to August 9 but schools may close sooner due to extreme weather. However no final notification has been issued for that change yet.
دی Sindh government has also made an official announcement. All schools and colleges in Sindh will have summer holidays from June 1 to July 31, 2025. This means students in Sindh will enjoy a full two month break during the hottest part of the year.
دی Education Department in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has issued a detailed schedule based on school levels and regions. For schools in plains areas (summer zone) primary schools will be closed from June 1 to August 31. However middle, high and higher secondary schools will start their holidays a bit later from June 15 to August 31.
