واٹس ایپ is trying out a new feature called Quick Chat Recap. It’s meant to make life easier for users who miss messages, especially in busy group chats. Instead of opening each chat to see what you missed, this tool gives a quick summary. The news came from WABetaInfo, and it’s likely to be useful for anyone who comes back to a phone full of unread messages after being away for a while.
Think of it as a smarter way to catch up. Unlike the current AI summary feature that shows you a single summary of all unread chats, Quick Chat Recap lets you choose up to five specific chats — personal or group — and gives you a short, neat summary of each one. It saves time and helps avoid the stress of scrolling endlessly.
The feature is powered by Meta’s AI, but WhatsApp says privacy remains a top priority. According to the company, all the processing happens directly on your device. That means your personal messages aren’t sent to Meta’s servers, and your privacy stays intact.
No part of your chat is stored or shared during this process.
Once selected, WhatsApp will show you brief overviews of those conversations.
At the moment, only a small group of users can try it — specifically those using the Android beta version 2.25.21.12 of WhatsApp.
This also shows how WhatsApp is gradually integrating more AI-powered features that are actually helpful and respect user privacy. Rather than replacing real chats, AI here is being used to assist users — making life a little easier.
