On Friday, the 10 th Faiz Festival started with lots of zeal at the Alhamra Art Centre on The Mall. The festival was named after the legendary poet Faiz Ahmed Faiz and bore an opening of a special exhibition of visual arts and an energetic turn up of literature and art enthusiasts.

This was the first ceremony that was held outside, one of the traditions of the festival every year. Salima Hashmi, Chairperson of Faiz Foundation Trust, emphasized that this year the opening exhibition was unique as the plant science was combined with textile art to contemplate the ecological issues.
Adeel Hashmi recalled the journey of the festival and how it started as a small event of 70 people a decade ago and the current event of huge proportions regarding culture. Alhamra Hall II was also hosting the internationally acclaimed play of Ajoka Theatre Dara, the opening day.
