Tensions between Pakistan and India have suddenly increased after a deadly attack in the Pahalgam area of Indian occupied Kashmir last week. India has blamed Pakistan for the attack even though it has not provided any solid proof. In response, Information Minister of Pakistan AttaullahTarar warned on Wednesday morning that the country has received reliable intelligence that India may carry out a military strike against Pakistan within the next 24 to 36 hours. He said these threats are based on false and baseless allegations.

Minister Attaullah Tarar strongly rejected the aggressive attitude of India and said Pakistan will not accept India acting like a judge, jury and executioner. He reminded the world that Pakistan has also suffered greatly from terrorism and understands the pain it causes. He said, Pakistan has always condemned terrorism in every form and at every place. He also offered that Pakistan is open to a transparent and fair investigation by a neutral and independent team to find the truth behind the incident.

However he expressed disappointment that India seems to be moving toward confrontation instead of choosing dialogue and peace. He warned that any military action by India would be met with a strong and clear response. He added that Pakistan is fully ready to defend its borders and sovereignty no matter what.

A day before this warning Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a secret meeting with military and security officials. PM Modi reportedly gave the Indian army full permission to respond to the attack however and whenever they want.

Pakistan media had reported that an Indian drone allegedly entered the Pakistani airspace and was subsequently brought down.

Meanwhile Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has spoken to the United Nations Secretary General António Guterres. He has asked him to counsel India to act responsibly and avoid taking extreme steps. PM Shehbaz completely rejected accusations of India and called them politically false. He once again invited international experts to investigate the attack fairly. He also pointed out how India often tries to link the Kashmiri freedom struggle with terrorism and continues to commit human rights violations in occupied Kashmir. He even mentioned India attempts to weaponize water by violating the Indus Waters Treaty which threatens the lives of millions in Pakistan.

The UN Secretary General expressed deep concern at rising tensions and offered mediation to ease the conflict. He said, the world cannot afford a war between two nuclear countries especially when the region is already facing various issues.
