YouTuber Saadur Rehman known as Ducky Bhai was granted protective bail by the Lahore High Court on Tuesday in a case filed against him for allegedly driving recklessly on the motorway. Justice Shahbaz Rizvi approved his bail request and barred the police from arresting him until May 5.
The case against Rehman was registered on April 19 at Chakri police station in Rawalpindi after he posted a video online that showed him driving with his feet placed on the car dashboard. The FIR accuses him of showing extreme negligence on the road which allegedly put his own life and the lives of others at risk. The charges include Section 279 of the Pakistan Penal Code which deals with rash driving and Article 67 of the National Highway Safety Ordinance 2000 which addresses dangerous driving on highways.
Speaking to reporters outside the court, Rehman acknowledged that the video was real but claimed that certain allegations were misleading. He clarified that although his feet were on the dashboard but were not on the steering wheel. He also responded to the accusation that he was asleep while driving saying it only appeared that way because one of his eyes was closed but the other was open and he was actively speaking and giving instructions throughout the video.
Rehman admitted the video was a pointless mistake but explained that the car he was driving had advanced features like auto steering and autonomous braking.
