An International Driving Permit (IDP) often known as an international driving license is a helpful document that allows you to drive legally in over 150 countries. It works by translating your local driving license into several international languages. However it is important to note that the IDP is not a substitute for your original license. It is only valid when carried along with your national license.
IDP is recognized under the 1949 Geneva Convention and 1968 Vienna Convention on Road Traffic. Pakistanis living overseas also need an IDP to drive in their host countries just like other foreign nationals.
Punjab Traffic Police has launched a first of its kind IDP kiosk at Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore. This service point makes the process quick and easy. You can now get your international driving license in just five minutes.
The new service was inaugurated by Lahore Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Dr. Muhammad Athar Waheed who said:
“This project shows our dedication to modernizing traffic services and offering public-friendly solutions at important locations like airports.”
