The next move by Pakistan toward establishing a robust digital future is the release of the AI Wrapper Competition, a national contest that boosts innovation using Artificial Intelligence (AI). Ignite National Technology Fund, which operates under the ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication has announced the competition.
This initiative aims at encouraging individuals who are young, professionals, startups, and researchers to apply AI to address real-life problems across various fields. This competition is centred on areas like education, healthcare, finance, governance, as well as climate change; a reflection of the need to have modern solutions to these key areas.
The AI Wrapper Competition will be hosted in five big cities in Pakistan- Karachi, Lahore, Quetta, Peshawar and Islamabad. The last phase of the competition will be organized in Islamabad and the best teams and individuals will present their work.

The prize pool of the competition is Rs8.75 million, and this amount is one of the largest in the country as one of the key highlights of the competition. The benefits are not limited to prize money though. They will also have an opportunity to mentor their ideas by experts, turn them into practical market solutions and compete with Pakistan and international AI competitions. This provides a platform to not only express creativity, but also to acquire recognition on the global platform.
The Ministry of IT and Telecom said that this competition is an indication of the vision of Pakistan being a real Digital Nation.
