The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has officially announced a new fee structure to be used in the renewal of Computerized National Identity Cards (CNIC) and Smart National Identity Cards (Smart NIC) in October 2025. This new version provides citizens with additional options when it comes to the speed at which they would like to get their renewed cards, based on personal needs and finances.
CNIC Renewal Costs and Processing Time
As per the recent update of NADRA, the renewal of a CNIC is classified into three categories namely, Normal, Urgent and Executive with varying fee and time.
Normal category: The card is issued at a cost of PKR 400 and delivery will take place within 15 working days.
Urgent category: To the ones who require their CNIC within a shorter period, the PKR 1,150 plan will have it delivered within 12 days.
Executive category: this is the most expensive with PKR 2,150 fee and the renewed CNIC will be issued in a short timeline of 6 days only.
This tiered system allows citizens to balance between cost and convenience. Those who require their card quickly — for instance, for official work, travel, or documentation — can opt for the executive service, while others can save money by choosing the normal or urgent category.
Smart ID Card Renewal Fees
NADRA has also revised the renewal fee of Smart ID Card, which comes loaded with a chip, and it is more secure. The Smart NIC renewal fees are as follows:
- Normal: PKR 750 with a processing time of 31 days
- Urgent: PKR 1,500 with a processing time of 15 days
- Executive: PKR 2,500 with a processing time of 9 days
The new design is flexible and convenient, so the citizens will be able to get their Smart NICs within the period that meets their needs.
About NADRA and Its Role
NADRA is Pakistan’s key authority for managing citizens’ identity records. It issues CNICs, Smart NICs, and other identification documents such as the B-Form. These identity cards are essential for accessing public services, voting, banking, and many legal activities.
The newly announced fee plan for October 2025 reflects NADRA’s ongoing effort to improve its services and make the process of identity renewal more efficient and customer-friendly. Citizens are encouraged to select their preferred option Normal, Urgent, or Executive based on their urgency and affordability.
