The active status feature on Instagram can be switched off.
Instagram also allows the audience to view the latest and current activity of a person in messages. It is known as the Activity Status that also allows people to be informed about the existence of their friends or people who they are connected with. However, other users would simply desire to be on Instagram using the private mode and not to tell other users when they are on. Fortunately, you can enable your Activity Status at any point in time on Instagram.
What is Instagram Activity Status?
The Activity Status displays your friends and whoever you communicate with:
- Last time you got active on instagram.
- If you are currently active
This comes as a green dot or a timestamp along with the profile picture in Instagram messages. Your Activity Status is on by default hence other people can see what you are doing.
How to Disable Your Activity Status?
To switch off your Activity Status on Instagram, one will need to follow these easy steps:
- Open Instagram and go to the profile.
- Touch the More icon (hamburger) on the left bottom.
- Make a choice in the menu Settings.
In the section on how other people can interact with you, select Messages and Story Replies.
- Tap Show Activity Status.
- Switch off the button beside Show Activity Status.
Once turned off:
- When you are online or offline will no longer be visible to others.
- Neither will you be able to view the Activity Status of other accounts.
