The “Sunday Scaries”—that sinking feeling of dread as the weekend ends and Monday approaches—is a common phenomenon. The best antidote to this anxiety is preparation. A structured Sunday Reset is a routine dedicated to getting your life in order so you can start the new week with momentum rather than chaos.
A good reset covers three areas: environmental, logistical, and mental.
First, the environment. Spend 20 minutes tidying your physical space. Do the laundry, wash the dishes, and clear your desk. Waking up on Monday to a clean house immediately lowers your cortisol levels.
Second, logistics. Review your calendar for the upcoming week. Do you have early meetings? appointments? deadlines? Plan your outfits and, if possible, prep your meals or at least a menu for the week. Decision fatigue is real; by making these choices on Sunday, you save your mental energy for important work on Monday.
Third, the mental reset. Take some time to decompress. This could be a long bath, reading a book, or writing down your top three goals for the week.
The goal isn’t to work all weekend. The goal is to spend a focused hour or two removing obstacles for your future self. When you wake up on Monday morning knowing exactly what to wear, what to eat, and what to do first, you eliminate anxiety and replace it with confidence.
