The Employees’ Old-Age Benefits Institution (EOBI) remains the primary social safety net for private-sector employees in Pakistan. As we enter January 2026, the institution has introduced several digital reforms and updated payment structures to better support retirees.
Whether you are a current worker planning for the future or a retiree looking for payment updates, this guide covers everything you need to know about your EOBI pension.
Current EOBI Pension Rates in 2026
Following the 15% increase approved in the previous fiscal year, the minimum EOBI pension for 2026 is currently Rs. 11,500 per month. While there have been discussions regarding a jump to Rs. 20,000, those figures await final approval in the upcoming 2026-27 Federal Budget.
For high-earning contributors, the pension is calculated using a specific formula:
(Average Minimum Wage) x (Number of Years of Insurable Employment) / 50
Eligibility Criteria for EOBI Pension
To qualify for a monthly lifetime pension, workers must meet the following criteria:
- Service Duration: You must have at least 15 years (180 months) of insurable employment. Note: A recent January 2026 ruling allows those with 14.5 years of service to qualify under “rounding-off” rules.
- Retirement Age: 60 years for men and 55 years for women.
- Contribution Record: Your employer must have consistently deposited the 5% monthly contribution alongside your 1% deduction.
3. How to Check Your EOBI Pension Status Online
In 2026, the process to verify your records has been fully digitized. To check your EOBI pension details:
- Visit the EOBI Individual Information Portal.
- Select the “Insured Person” or “Pensioner” tracking option.
- Enter your 13-digit CNIC number without dashes.
- The system will display your total months of contribution and your current eligibility status.
4. Mandatory Biometric Verification
In order to safeguard the transparency of the EOBI pension system, all pensioners are expected to be subjected to biometric checks on a bi-annual basis (usually during the months of March and September). This may be made at any of the branches of HBL, Bank Alfalah or at EasyPaisa/JazzCash points linked with EOBI. Failure to verify your “Proof of Life” may result in a temporary suspension of payments.
