One of the notifications flooding the social media has again caused confusion among the general servants of the state about the retirement Age of Govt Employees in Pakistan. The viral document states that the federal government had increased the retirement age by three years; 60 to 63.
Nevertheless, it has been verified by the official channels that this is fake news and that no such decision was arrived at.
Viral Claim About Retirement Age of Govt Employees
The fake letter, which was actively disseminated on social networks, is accredited to the Establishment Division. It accuses the Government of Pakistan of having resolved to give a three-year extension to all the employees of the federal government who will be effective starting January 1, 2026.
Official Verdict on Retirement Age of Govt Employees
Authorities have categorically rejected the notification, terming it fake and baseless. Official sources clarified that:
- No such notification has been issued.
- No formal approval regarding an increase in the retirement age has been granted by either the Finance Division or the Establishment Division.
Officials have pointed out multiple irregularities in the circulating paper that prove its inauthenticity:
Incorrect Logo: The document carries a Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government logo, despite purporting to be a federal order.
Forged Signature: It carries the signature of a signatory, Shakeel Qadeer Khan, Chief Secretary, Ministry of Pakistan, which the authorities termed as a forged signature.
Forged References: The reference numbers that are associated with the Finance and Establishment divisions are forged and non-existent in the official records.
The concerned officials have encouraged citizens and government workers not to trust unconfirmed stories posted on the social networking sites. Citizens should verify information through authentic government sources and the official Gazette.
