The Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) has now officially introduced a modern online complaint tracking system on the 15 emergency helpline complaints registered by call. It is a digital project aimed at raising the level of transparency and enabling citizens to track the status of their applications in real-time and not address a police station.
How the PSCA Online Tracking System Works
Within the framework of this new mechanism, the citizens will have 24/7 surveillance of the state of their complaints. After the registration of a First Information Report (FIR), the authority automatically sends a WhatsApp message to the complainant. This message includes:
- A direct download link for the FIR.
- A unique e-tag number.
- Relevant details regarding the registered complaint.
In order to make it safe and individual access, complainants are sent a username and a password through SMS. This enables them to access the special portal, monitor the status of their application in real-time, and get access to official documents at the comfort of their homes and even provide feedback on the police response.
Integration with Virtual Women’s Police Station
In a significant move toward gender-inclusive safety, the PSCA has integrated this tracking service with the Virtual Women’s Police Station. This will allow women to get legal advice and post-follow-up remotely. Using a special post-FIR follow-up program, the authorities keep in touch with aggrieved women on a regular basis so that the cases are effectively and sensitively addressed.
