Authorities have introduced major changes to the M-Tag installation timings for motorcycles and vehicles to facilitate citizens during the holy month of Ramadan. To handle the growing number of applicants and ensure faster processing, the Excise and Taxation Department Islamabad has officially announced the introduction of new 24-hour and 12-hour service categories across multiple centers in the city.
24-Hour Operational M-Tag Centers
The Director General of Excise, Irfan Memon, reported that they have increased their 24-hour operational centers to four. This will help in decongesting the daytime and offer flexible and around-the-clock access to vehicle owners.
M-Tag installation facilities will remain open 24/7 at the following locations:
- Sector 26
- F-9 Park
- Faizabad Interchange
- Phulgran
12-Hour Operational M-Tag Centers
To further accommodate the public, the department has expanded the duration of previously announced nine-hour shifts to 12-hour operations at most locations.
The extended 12-hour services are now available at the following checkpoints and centers:
- Rawat Check Post
- G-14 Check Post
- Ninth Avenue I-9
- Wheat Warehouse Checkpoint
- Daman-e-Koh
- Murree Road (near Tulip Checkpoint)
- Gulberg Greens
- Milpur
- Margalla Avenue Checkpoint
Required Documents for Islamabad M-Tag
Officials stated that citizens must fulfill specific requirements to ensure the smooth implementation of the digital tagging system. To obtain an M-Tag, vehicle owners must bring:
- Original vehicle ownership documents.
- A valid Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC).
- A registered mobile number.
Mandatory Requirement: The authorities also stated further and emphasized that the tag can only be installed on a motorcycle or vehicle with an official number plate issued by Excise. Cars that do not have official number plates will not be entertained.
