This year is a huge treat to the students and the teachers in Islamabad. How the educational institutions of the federal government in the capital are getting an unbelievable 11 days off in a row is, in short, a simple coincidence of the academic year, the national holidays, and the weekends.

As indicated by the most recent official announcements, the planned spring holidays have been tactfully combined with the upcoming Eid ul Fitr holidays. This together with the weekends and Pakistan Day brings a record continuous holiday among students and workers all over the capital.

This is the full calculation of the summation of these 11 consecutive holidays and the time classes are likely to be resumed.

    The 11-Day Holiday Breakdown

    Date (March 2026)Reason for Holiday
    March 19, 20, 21Eid ul Fitr Holidays
    March 22Sunday (Weekend)
    March 23Pakistan Day (National Holiday)
March 24 to 27Official Spring Break
    March 28 & 29Weekend (Saturday & Sunday)

    Official Islamabad Eid Holidays Notification

The annual calendar of the institutions operating under the federal government is issued by the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) and other concerned authorities. The spring holidays were initially scheduled by the officials as between March 24 and March 27.Nonetheless, since Eid ul Fitr is just before this period (and then, the March 23rd Pakistan Day resolution holiday), the authorities have resolved to combine the breaks. This is in order to enable the out-of-station students and staff ample time to commute and spend the festivities with their families without missing any academic days.
