In a major step towards digitalization and public convenience, the Punjab government has officially ended the use of traditional security stamp papers. Operating under the Board of Revenue, the provincial government has launched major digital reforms by introducing a fully operational Punjab online e-stamp system.

According to official sources, citizens can now pay their stamp duties and obtain their required stamps completely online. This digital shift completely eliminates the need to visit banks or government offices to purchase physical stamp papers.

How to Get E-Stamps Online in Punjab

Under the newly launched digital system, the process of acquiring a stamp paper has been made incredibly simple and accessible. Citizens can now obtain e-stamps of all values directly from the comfort of their homes.

Here is how the new digital process works:

    • Users can access the official government portal or use the designated mobile application.
    • Select the required value for the stamp paper.
    • Pay the stamp duty online using digital payment methods.
    • Complete a quick OTP (One-Time Password) verification.
    • The e-stamp is issued immediately and is ready for download.

Printing on Ordinary Paper and Security Reforms

The printing process is one of the major transformations that were brought about by this initiative. When e-stamp is downloaded, citizens are only required to print them on a plain white paper.

This modernization will see the use and distribution of fake or illegal stamp papers being eliminated permanently according to the Punjab Land Records Authority. The high security and easy digital verification is provided by the digital nature of these documents.

    Eliminating the Old Manual Process

In the past, the citizens were required to undergo a manual process which was very time consuming. To get a stamp paper, one had to go to the respective banks and government stores, stand in long queues, pay the stamp duty either in cash or by way of a bank check, and finally get back a hardcopy of a security stamp paper.

According to the officials, this new online initiative will not only significantly simplify the process of the citizens, but will also substantially enhance security, increase the transparency, and enhance the overall pace of the service delivery throughout the province.
