The federal government has officially provided the citizens in the country with the good news of announcing the schedule of the public holiday in the coming festive season. The citizens are expected to have an enormous four-day long weekend of Eid according to a formal notification by the Cabinet Division of Pakistan announced on Sunday.
The actual dates have already been established now and these are the actual breakdown of the Eid ul Fitr holidays in Pakistan and the projected time of Eid (with the help of astronomy).
The 4-Day Eid Holiday Breakdown
The Cabinet Division has had its circular on the official public holidays endorsed by the Prime Minister. Although the government has markedly set two days as Eid, the calendar structure presents an uninterrupted four days off to both five and six days offices with a five-day working week.
| Date | Day | Holiday / Occasion |
| March 20 | Friday | Official Eid ul Fitr Holiday |
| March 21 | Saturday | Official Eid ul Fitr Holiday |
| March 22 | Sunday | Standard Weekly Off |
| March 23 | Monday | Pakistan Day (National Public Holiday) |
Since the specified Eid holidays perfectly resonate with the regular Sunday off and the national holiday of the Pakistan Day, all the government offices and large business spheres can be expected to be closed during four days in a row.
Expected Eid ul Fitr Date & Moon Sighting
Although the holidays are declared, astronomical scientists have also contributed their part on the exact date of the festival. Experts indicate that there are high chances that Pakistan will witness a complete 30 days long month of Ramadan this year which means that Eid ul Fitr will be celebrated on a Saturday date, 21 March 2026.
Pakistan Space and upper atmosphere research commission (Suparco) gave technical information to facilitate this prediction:
Shawwal 1447 AH new moon is supposed to be born on March 19, 2026 at 6:23 a.m. Pakistan Standard Time.
By the time the sun sets on March 19, the moon will be only some 12 hours and 41 minutes in age.
The sunset and the moonset will differ by an estimated 28 minutes of the coastal stretch of Pakistan and thus the crescent will be extremely hard to observe with the naked eye that night.
However, Suparco emphasized that the final, binding decision regarding the sighting of the Shawwal moon and the official declaration of Eid ul Fitr will strictly remain with the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.
