Chief Minister of Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif has just introduced a major digital governance and convenience to the people by officially opening the Punjab Police Pakistan App. This new digital project is aimed at empowering citizens who will be able to report lost necessary documents without stepping out of their homes and physically visiting law enforcement institutions, which will automatically be removed.

    Seamless Reporting of Essential Documents

With this recently introduced application, citizens throughout the province will have the ability to easily file formal complaints about the misplaced or lost critical items. The online platform is now allowing the reporting of personal documents, which are considered vital such as national identity cards, passports, and driving licenses. By computerizing this initial step the government hopes to save citizens the usual inconvenience of having to visit a local police station or police service centre only to file a standard missing item report.

Doorstep Delivery of Official Police Reports

To make the whole process of complaint registration even more extraordinary, the app does not only make the complaints digital but also provides a smooth flow of the legal procedure. After a citizen manages to file a report using the application, a hardcopy of the lost report, which is also officially referred to as an FIR will be sent and handed over to the applicant at his/her registered residential address. This considerate aspect ensures that one has the required legal paperwork with him to be able to go to the office and seek document replacements with ease without the need to incur bureaucratic stalling.

    Advancing Digital Governance in Punjab

In the inauguration ceremony, the Chief Minister emphasized that this project is an element of the larger government vision of transforming the way people receive services drastically by integrating modern technology. She reiterated that offering real convenience to the people by sustaining innovation is one of the firm promises of her government and Punjab is now firmly on the road to technology. Moreover, the government officials observed that this technological breakthrough will not only save the people precious time and money, but will also help curb the normal stress and anxiety caused by people who take up long queues at the police stations so as to report on petty cases.
