Australia has introduced a more convenient visa process for eligible Pakistani applicants by allowing them to submit important identity information through the Australian Immi App. This update aims to make the application journey faster and easier, especially for people living in areas far from biometric centres.
The announcement was made by Australia’s High Commissioner to Pakistan, Tim Kane. He explained that applicants can now upload their passport details and facial biometrics directly from their smartphones using the Immi App. This means many people will no longer need to schedule appointments or travel long distances just to submit basic information.
However, the convenience applies only to those who receive a “requirement to provide personal identifiers (biometrics)” letter containing a Visa Lodgement Number (VLN) that begins with AUI or AUH. Applicants with these codes can complete the process entirely through the app as long as they have their valid passport with them.
The rest of the VLN is also obliged to visit an Australian Biometrics Collection Centre physically, although the VLN does not begin with these prefixes. This will make sure that every applicant of visa will go through the right process according to their respective category of application.
This will require a stable net connection and a smartphone with NFC (Near Field Communication) to use the Immi App. The users should also grant the app access to the phone camera and location services to go through the verification process.
On the whole, such a move should make the process of visa application easier to several Pakistanis and can also cut the processing time by computerizing major stages of the identity verification procedures. When used in the right way, the update might be useful to the students, workers and families intending to visit Australia.
