In a major development in the Balochistan couple murder case, 11 people have been arrested, including the chief of the Satakzai tribe.
Chief Minister Bugti shared on social media that 11 people have been arrested in the couple’s murder case.
The government is actively pursuing justice in the Balochistan couple murder case. Chief Minister Bugti said the authorities fully support the victims and won’t let anyone involved escape accountability.
As part of the probe, police raided the home linked to the Satakzai tribe and took their chief, Sardar Sherbaz Satakzai, into custody. His arrest didn’t sit well with Sarawan tribal elders. They’re upset, saying it’s not right to go after a tribal head like this.
The case exploded nationwide after a chilling video began making rounds online. In it, a man and a woman are gunned down in cold blood. It’s believed to have been filmed around Eid al-Adha.
The government stepped in and registered a case on its own. According to spokesman Shahid Rind, officials used NADRA’s records to figure out who the people in the video are. They’ve identified the suspects, but haven’t named anyone publicly so far.
The murders have once again stirred public anger about the treatment of women and how common so-called honour killings still are in Pakistan.
As per the Sustainable Social Development Organisation (SSDO), there have been 32 cases of honour killing reported in Balochistan this year alone.
