The Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has posted its electricity demand during the imminent Basant festival, and it has relieved millions of people in the state. Officially management has assured that the load shedding in the city during the three days celebrations will be zero.
The Chief Executive Muhammad Ramadan Butt of LESCO announced the schedule indicating that the company has enough power quotas to cover the demand without disrupting. The utility has also halted all its regular maintenance outages to maintain the supply of continuous power.
LESCO Electricity Operational Plan
In order to keep this schedule, LESCO has switched to an ambitious operational strategy:
Unlimited Supply: Electricity will be supplied 24/7 and would not be cut off periodically during the festival days.
Staff Alert: The leave of all the employees is called off. Three shifts of field staff will be implemented to make sure that any fault that occurs locally is repaired immediately.
Control Room: The electricity schedule compliance will be controlled at LESCO Headquarters by a central monitoring cell that will control grid loads in real-time.Maintaining the electricity schedule during Basant is often difficult due to metal kite strings causing tripping. To counter this, LESCO has installed protective safety nets at critical installations, specifically the Shah Alam and Shahi Qila grid stations. These nets will prevent stray strings from contacting high-voltage wires, ensuring the system remains stable.
