Pakistan medical and dental college admission test (MDCAT) 2025 is expected to be changed significantly, as announced by the Pakistan medical and dental council (PMDC). This year, students will only be allowed to appear in the test within their own provinces based on their domicile.
This means no student can take the exam in another province.
Test Centers and Universities
To conduct the MDCAT smoothly, PMDC has assigned different universities across the country, including:
- IBA Sukkur
- Bolan University of Medical and Health Sciences, Quetta
- Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University (SZABMU), Islamabad
The candidates of Sindh and Balochistan will also have a special test center established in the city of Islamabad so that they can easily appear.
The exam will be given by the students of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhaw (KP). Nonetheless, applicants of Azar Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and any other province will be allowed to appear at SZABMU, Islamabad. Their admissions will still be decided according to their provincial quotas.
PMDC has made it very clear that the domicile of the concerned province is mandatory to admission in medical and dental colleges. Besides, students of AJK and GB have also been given special seats.
Revised MDCAT 2025 Schedule
The MDCAT was supposed to be held on the 5 th of October 2025, but due to heavy rains and floods in Pakistan, the exam would be postponed to October 26, 2025 (Sunday).
PMDC said that the new date was agreed upon following consultations with all the province, AJK, and GB universities.
This move, according to Federal Minister Mustafa Kamal, was in the best interest of the students and all applicants in the country were given equal opportunity to compete.
