The NED University of Engineering and Technology has officially revealed its admissions program for the next 2026-27 academic year. Among other significant milestones, the university unveiled a major increase in its admission capacity by introducing 140 new seats to serve the total capacity of 3,156 students, as opposed to 3,016 the previous year.

NED University Merit Formula and Seat Distribution
To make the selection process just, NED University has laid down stringent requirements to be met in the computation of merit and entry test.
Passing Condition: To be able to pass the entry test, one needs to obtain at least 50% marks.
Merit Weightage: Final merit will be calculated by assigning a weightage of 60 percent to the entry test score and weighting 40 percent to the first year intermediate performance of the student.
Greater number of Merit Seats: Positively, the university has also cut its self-finance seats by five to 159 giving five to the open merit category.
NED University Updated Fee Structure
The financial committee of the university has recommended that fees in different categories increase by an approximation of 10 percent to meet the increasing administrative and educational expenses. The amount paid by students on the first semester is approximated to be around 123,000 that will be spent on the admission fee and the first semester fee.

Dr. Hussain noted that the newly added 140 seats have been strategically distributed across various categories to promote diversity and accessibility. This includes increased allocations for students from the Karachi Board, A-Level systems, Aga Khan Board, minority quotas, and various regional seats.
Furthermore, NED University is expanding its academic offerings at the Thar campus by introducing two brand-new undergraduate programs: BS English and BS Management Sciences.
