A deadly attack in Pahalgam has caused intense criticism and debate across India and Pakistan. One of the primary areas of concern is the release of the names of the suspected attackers by Indian authorities soon after the attack occurred.
One of the victims was Shailesh Bhai Kalathiya from Gujarat. His grieving widow strongly criticised the local administration and BJP leader CR Patil by saying:
“You have plenty of VIP cars but no soldiers or medical help came when it was needed the most.”
This statement shows the serious security and emergency response failures during the attack.
Prominent journalist and Kashmir expert Anuradha Bhasin questioned the official version of events.
“This happened in one of the most heavily militarised regions in the world. It is shocking that security forces were late to respond yet suspect details were shared so quickly,” she said.
Similarly security analyst Amitabh Mattoo called the incident a major intelligence failure by saying,
“No matter how you view it, this shows clear gaps in our security system.”
These fast revelations of suspects’ identities within hours of the attack have caused many to question the transparency and credibility of India handling of the situation.
This tragic attack claimed the lives of 26 tourists and made it the deadliest civilian attack in the region in nearly 20 years. It also shattered the period of relative peace that had existed in the area.
India quickly blamed Pakistan after the pahalgam attack. But Pakistan rejected these claims, called them baseless and politically motivated.During a joint press conference with DG ISPR Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, Pakistan Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar warned India against taking any aggressive steps.
He stated that while Pakistan does not want conflict, it is fully ready to respond if provoked.
