Pakistan military has confirmed that 26 innocent civilians were martyred and 46 others injured after Indian forces launched attacks on six locations across Pakistan. This was announced by DG ISPR Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif during a press briefing on Wednesday morning.
He said India once again repeated its cowardly history by attacking under the cover of night and targeting civilian areas.
In one of the worst incidents, a mosque in Ahmedpur Sharqia was hit where 13 people including two young girls were martyred. Another mosque in Muridke was also targeted which caused the deaths of 3 people and injuring one more.
In Muzaffarabad three civilians were martyred and two children, a boy and a girl were injured. In Kotli two teenagers, a 16 year old girl and an 18 year old boy lost their lives in another mosque attack. A mother and her child were also injured there.
Sialkot and Shakargarh were also affected but there were no reports of casualties there. Pakistan had hit back by shooting down five Indian jets and one drone. The three Rafale jets, one MiG-29 and one SU-series fighter aircraft were compromised. The DG ISPR also confirmed that attacks left key parts of the Neelum Jhelum hydropower project particularly intake gates and a hydraulic protection system in ruins. An ambulance near the site was also hit.
Security officials said the attack on the dam was a serious violation of international law. Targeting water reserves and energy infrastructure is against all war customs and global norms.
The Pakistan Armed Forces gave a strong and clear response and are prepared to defend the country from any further aggression.
