The popular singing competition Pakistan Idol is officially making a comeback across the country. A press release issued on Saturday confirmed that this season’s judging panel will include some of the most famous names in the Pakistani music scene — Fawad Khan, Zeb Bangash, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, and Bilal Maqsood.
The show is being produced by MHL Global — one of Pakistan’s top media companies — with permission from Fremantle, the international company behind the original Idol format seen in many countries around the world.
This new season promises to offer a powerful platform for singers from all parts of Pakistan. Contestants will get professional mentorship, perform on national TV, and will be judged not only by the panel but also by votes from the public.
Zoya Merchant, the Director at MHL Global, said in the press release, “Our collaboration with Fremantle is a big achievement for Pakistan’s creative and entertainment industry. This show is more than just a singing contest — it’s a chance to highlight Pakistan’s rich musical talent to the entire world.”
The first season of Pakistan Idol aired in 2013 on Geo Entertainment, where Zamad Baig from Lahore won the title.
This time, things are bigger and more inclusive. Online auditions have already started on the official platform “Begin.” Auditions in cities and even remote areas will start later this month, giving everyone an equal chance to take part — no matter where they live.
What makes this season even more special is that Pakistan Idol will be shown on five major TV channels across the country — all at the same time. In a first for any country running the Idol series, Pakistan Idol will go on air across five big TV channels — all at once.
As for when and where auditions will be held, plus when the show hits screens — those details are expected to come out shortly.
