The Pakistan army has confirmed that it has shot down 25 Indian drones that entered Pakistani airspace overnight. According to the military spokesperson Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, these drones were taken down in multiple cities including Lahore, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, Attock, Bahawalpur, Chakwal, Miano, Chhor and near Karachi.
During a press conference, he showed images of the drone debris and said that the wreckage is being collected from various locations. He explained that while most drones were destroyed, one drone managed to hit a military area near Lahore injuring four Pakistani soldiers and damaging some equipment.
Tragically in the Sindh Miano area, an Indian drone strike killed one civilian and injured another. Gen Ahmed Chaudhry described these actions as clear aggression and said India is still continuing to send these drones but Pakistani forces are on high alert and actively neutralizing them.
He further said India started this drone activity after its failed attacks on May 6 and 7 where Indian forces targeted worship places and civilian infrastructure. Pakistan claims to have shot down five Indian fighter jets, a fact partially acknowledged by India when it confirmed that three of its jets had crashed inside its own territory.
Heavy artillery fire has continued along the Line of Control (LoC) and Indian strikes have caused destruction in several areas of Punjab and Azad Kashmir including Ahmedpur East, Muridke, Sialkot, Muzaffarabad and Kotli.
Gen Ahmed Chaudhry warned that India ongoing military aggression is dangerous and could destabilize the entire region. He said India appears to have lost control and is acting irrationally. He urged the international community to take notice of India aggressive behavior which is putting regional peace at risk.
He ended by assuring the public that Pakistani armed forces are fully prepared and alert to deal with any kind of threat.
