The Government of Pakistan has hastened the payment of subsidies to electric vehicles through the Pakistan Accelerated Vehicle Electrification (PAVE) scheme. Engineering Development Board (EDB) has ensured that the procedure of transfer of subsidies on E-Bikes and E-Rickshaws is currently being undertaken in order to facilitate environmentally friendly transportation.
PAVE Scheme Subsidy Amounts
According to Hamad Ali Mansoor, CEO of the EDB, the government has allocated approximately Rs. 9 billion for subsidies in the current fiscal year. The scheme offers direct financial support to reduce the cost of electric vehicles for the public.
- Electric Rickshaws: Subsidy of Rs. 80,000
- Electric Bikes: Subsidy of Rs. 40,000
PAVE Scheme Phases and 2030 Targets
The PAVE scheme has been broken into steps in order to promote extensive implementation:
Phase 1: Embraces 41,000 units (40,000 of the E-Bikes, 1,000 of the E-Rickshaws and 1,000 of the E-Loaders).
Phase 2: Will cover more than 78, 000 electric vehicles.
This is the long-term objective of surpassing 100 billion subsidies by 2030 with the aim being 30% of all vehicles in Pakistan being electric. This move is likely to lead to a considerable decrease in the fuel importation bill in the country and fight environmental pollution.
