The PSL 11 auction gained speed officially when the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) released the first three-qualified bidders to add two new teams in the Pakistan Super League.
The historic PSL 11 auction will be held on January 8 in Jinnah Convention Centre in Islamabad and the tournament will be held between March 26 to May 3.
Inverex Solar Energy Designated as First Qualified Bidder
The PCB declared that Inverex Solar Energy was the first qualified bidder to the PSL 11 auction. Pakistan Super League verified this new development using official social media pages, saying that it is the first step in a process that is much anticipated.
OZ Group Reaffirmed as Second Bidder
Shortly after, PCB announced the second qualified bidder in PSL 11 auction and called the OZ Group of Companies. The PSL stated OZ Group as a firm and a reputable competitor, which created further fervor before the date of auction.
VGO TEL declared as Third Qualified Bidder
However, the PCB later in the day stated that VGO TEL Mobile was the third qualified bidder of PSL 11 auction. This was confirmed via official PCB and PSL social media accounts, which added more interest to the league expansion.
PSL Growth to Eight Teams
The PSL 11 auction will also increase the number of teams in the league to eight, a significant moment in the history of the league. The PCB is in the process of technical assessments of all the proposals received prior to the bidding mechanism.
Ali Khan Tareen also in the Race
One of the interested parties is the Tareen Group, headed by the businessman Ali Khan Tareen, who used to own Multan Sultans. In 2018, Tareen purchased the franchise and assisted in making it one of the most successful teams, which also claimed the PSL title in 2021.
But, Tareen left the franchise at the expiry of 2026, following a dispute between them with the PCB on renewing their contract and governance issues. This departure qualifies him to play with a new team in the PSL 11.
Available Cities in the PSL 11
This is a list of cities available to new teams.
After the PSL 11 auction has been conducted, the successful bidders will then be given an opportunity to choose a home city among the PCB-approved list. These cities include:
Faisalabad
Rawalpindi
Hyderabad
Sialkot
Muzaffarabad
Gilgit
An important initiative that will see the expansion of the largest cricket league in Pakistan is the PSL 11 auction. The inclusion of two new teams will open additional avenues to players, enhance the fans, and will mobilise the position of the PSL as one of the best T20 globally.
