PSL 11 Opening Match and Venue Officially Confirmed

Pakistan Super League (PSL) Chief Executive Officer Salman Naseer has now formally announced the much-hyped opening match arrangements and location of the historic 11 th season of the PSL. As the tournament is going to be eight-teams this year, fans are looking forward to the appearance of the new franchises.

PSL 11 Opening Match Details

In an interview with the media, Naseer revealed that the champions of a previous year, Lahore Qalandars, will launch the tournament against a new team, Hyderabad Kingsmen. The grand opening will be on the eve of the first ball being bowled.

Naseer further stated that the majority of the matches in the first leg of PSL 11 will be held in Lahore. The complete, detailed schedule for the entire tournament is expected to be released later this week.

Will PSL 11 Host Matches Overseas?

There has been curiosity in recent reports concerning the possibility of having the final of the PSL 11 or some of the matches outside of Pakistan. The PSL CEO affirmed this when asked about this saying that the concept is being actively discussed in order to serve the giant overseas Pakistani diaspora.

The schedule will come to light in the later half of this week and all will be clear. But certainly, this was a topic of deliberation, that our Pakistani expatriates would like to watch the PSL and partake in it, as well. He also added that by the end of the week, it would be clarified on whether an overseas match will take place this season or otherwise.

Update on Peshawar as a Host Venue

To deal with the persistent questions concerning the hosting of PSL matches in Peshawar, Naseer made things clear. The management of the league has done an extensive visit to the stadium recently to determine the preparedness of the stadium.

Sadly, the ground conditions and some of the facilities were discovered to be not so much up to the mark and that is the reason why the National T20 Cup was shifted earlier. Naseer however reassured the fans that the final aim of the PCB is to take PSL to Peshawar, and a final decision on the venue would be made to be summed up with the official schedule announcement.
