TheFederal Board of Revenue (FBR) has declared new customs values of old and refurbished mobile phones entering Pakistan. This restructuring will lower the taxes on used mobile phones in PTA, and popular products such as iPhones, Samsung, Google Pixel, and OnePlus will become more affordable to the consumers.
This ruling was given by the Directorate General of Customs Valuation Karachi.
It applies only to used and refurbished phones, not brand-new ones. The move is expected to boost demand for second-hand smartphones in Pakistan’s local market.
Why FBR Reduced PTA Tax on Used Mobile Phones
According to officials, the old valuation system was charging high taxes even on refurbished phones. Now, FBR has adjusted prices closer to real international market rates.
Anyone who wants to challenge the new values can submit a review petition within 30 days to the Directorate General of Customs Valuation Karachi.
This revision helps buyers who prefer imported used phones instead of expensive brand-new models.
