The Punjab government has launched a new scheme to encourage people to switch from petrol bikes to electric bikes. If you buy a new electric bike, you can now get up to Rs. 100,000 as a cash incentive under this program.
This is part of the Chief Minister’s Green Credit Program, which aims to reduce pollution and support electric vehicles across the province.
Who Can Apply for Punjab Bike Scheme
To apply for the scheme, there are some simple conditions:
You must buy a brand-new electric bike (not a converted one).
The purchase should be made after December 2024.
You need to register your bike officially.
Documents Required for Punjab Bike Scheme
You’ll have to submit the following:
- Purchase date
- Bike’s company and model
- Registration number
- Chassis number
- A copy of the registration book
- Clear photos of your electric bike
After you submit everything, a government team will visit and verify your bike in person.
Payment Details for Punjab Bike Scheme
- First payment: After verification, you’ll get Rs. 50,000 in your account.
- Second payment: To get the remaining Rs. 50,000, you’ll have to:
- Connect your bike with the Green Credit mobile app
- Ride your bike for at least 6,000 km within 6 months
- Connect your bike with the Green Credit mobile app
Once you complete these steps, the second payment will be given to you.
Who Is Not Eligible for Punjab Bike Scheme
If your bike is retrofitted (converted from petrol to electric), you won’t get the reward. The scheme is only for new, factory-made electric bikes.
