In a move aimed at providing direct financial relief to the public following recent fuel price hikes, the Sindh government has officially announced a new fuel subsidy scheme. The motorcyclists in the province can now qualify to receive flat Rs. R2,000 monthly petrol voucher.

This provincial program announced by Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah in a recent press conference has a similar model by the federal government that was announced only the day before. Considering the economic pressure on the middle and lower-middle classes, the Chief Minister said that although the government had to take some tough decisions in relation to the economy, this subsidy is aimed at providing specific relief to the most in need.

In case you own a motorcycle and would like to take advantage of this monthly financial aid, this is all you should know about the eligibility requirements, the registration procedure, and the schedule of payments.

Eligibility Criteria for the Petrol Subsidy

In order to make this process transparent and avoid fraud, the government has established stringent conditions for persons who qualify to receive this subsidy. You have to satisfy the following requirements:

Type of Vehicle: you should own a motorcycle.

Registered Ownership: This motorcycle should be registered in your name.

Valid CNIC: You will be required to have a valid Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC).

Active Bank Account: You should be an active bank account holder with an active International Bank Account Number (IBAN) to get the money electronically sent to you.

    Free Motorcycle Ownership Transfers

Recognizing that many citizens drive motorcycles purchased on open transfer letters without officially transferring the ownership, the Sindh government has announced a major facilitation step.

To help people qualify for the Rs. 2,000 petrol subsidy in Sindh, the government has abolished the motorcycle transfer fee. This means you can now legally transfer the bike into your own name without paying the usual excise transfer charges, allowing you to quickly become eligible for the monthly fuel relief.

How to Register via the Excise Department App

Registration is totally digitalized, and there is no need to have long queues and paperwork to complete it. This is the way the application process will be:

Get the Next App: The Sindh Excise Department is going to release a special mobile application to this scheme in the next few days.

Enter Your CNIC: When using the app, the applicants will have to input their CNIC number.

Automated Verification: The system will automatically scan the provincial excise database. If a motorcycle is registered against your CNIC, the application will proceed.

Provide Bank Details: You will be prompted to enter your bank account’s IBAN. Ensure this is correct, as the subsidy will be directly transferred to this account.

Payment Timeline: When Will You Get the Money?

The government is moving quickly to disburse the funds. According to the initial announcement, after the app is launched and registrations are verified, the first batch of payments is expected to be transferred directly into applicants’ bank accounts around April 15, 2026.

Who is eligible for the Rs. 2,000 petrol subsidy in Sindh?

Any citizen possessing a valid CNIC, an active bank account (IBAN), and a motorcycle legally registered in their own name is eligible for the monthly subsidy.

How do I apply for the motorcycle petrol subsidy?

You will need to register through a soon-to-be-launched mobile application by the Sindh Excise Department. The app will require you to enter your CNIC to automatically verify your motorcycle ownership and ask for your IBAN for payment processing.

What happens if my motorcycle is not registered in my name?

If the bike is not registered under your CNIC, you cannot claim the subsidy. However, the Sindh government has temporarily abolished the motorcycle transfer fee, allowing you to transfer the ownership to your name for free to become eligible.

When will the Rs. 2,000 subsidy be deposited into my account?

Following successful registration and verification through the official app, the government expects to start transferring the subsidy payments around April 15.
