The Russian House in Islamabad has just declared the establishment of the Russian Government Scholarship Programme during the academic year 202627 in one of the major moves to enhance educational relations between Russia and Pakistan. The program provides fully sponsored educational opportunities to Pakistani students wishing to obtain bachelor, master, and doctorate degrees in the best universities in Russia.
The only authorised institution, as stated by Igor Kolesnikov, the spokesperson of the Russian Embassy in Islamabad, to nominate students under this programme is the Russian House, also referred to as Russian center of science and culture. Placements will be handled by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation to select candidates.
The scholarship will cover the full period of study and it will give monthly stipend, as well as all admission and tuition fees. Nevertheless, students will have to take care of their day to day costs and travelling costs as long as they stay in Russia.
Today the applications are accepted online on the official portal of the Russian Federation which is used to apply to the educational institutions, and the deadline is January 15, 2026. The applicants have to select their preferred course of study and level of study, and provide academic documents.
The selection will be on merit, whereby the emphasis would be on the performance of the applicants in terms of academic performance, qualifications, and supporting portfolios. The shortlisted students will then be required to hand in medical and fitness certificates and certified Russian translations of their documents.
Students may also use email in case of questions or need any other information about the Russian House. Such a programme is a good chance to allow Pakistani students to receive high-quality education and international experience, which will also contribute to the further development of academic relations between Moscow and Islamabad.
