Pakistan Super League’s long-awaited franchise has finally unveiled its official identity before PSL 11. The new franchise will be known as Sialkot Stallionz and this will put an end to the months of speculations on the name of the franchise.
The franchise owners OZ Developers announced it via their official social media. Sialkot will be a part of the league with another new team in Hyderabad, and will further extend the PSL in 2026.
It is seen that Stallionz is dedicated to the famous Sialkot Stallions, a powerful domestic T20 team that ruled Pakistani cricket in the 2000s and had winning streaks and a lot of titles.
Why the Name Sialkot Stallionz Was Chosen
Sialkot Stallion was initially referred to as one of the strongest domestic teams in Pakistan. The PSL franchise is, therefore, hoping to tap into that heritage by sharing a similar name and recover the memories of the golden age of T20 cricket in Sialkot.
The management however made it clear that the new PSL team is not associated with the old domestic side official. Rather, it bears a new identity without disrespecting the history of the city of Sialkot in regard to its cricket.
Team Strategy and Home Ground Plans
Speaking after purchasing the franchise, Hamza Majeed said player selection will be purely based on performance. The team will first focus on signing the best Pakistani players and later explore Australian talent as well.
He also said that Australian coaches can also be considered provided there are no top local alternatives.
In regard to the home venue, Hamza admitted that Jinnah Stadium, Sialkot is in need of a lot of renovations. Until then, Iqbal stadium, Faisalabad will be the temporary venue of home matches of Sialkot Stallionz in PSL matches.
Sialkot Stallionz Logo Revealed
Along with the team name, the franchise also revealed its official logo for PSL 11. The logo shows the words “Sialkot Stallionz” in bold metallic-style text on a dark background with “EST. 2026” written below, highlighting the team’s fresh start in the league.
The purpose was to show that Stallionz is a new franchise and not a continuation of the old Sialkot Stallions.
