Review of The Old Guard 2
What Worked:
- Charlize Theron gives a solid performance, as always.
- Strong visual effects and stylish fight scenes.
- New cast additions (Uma Thurman, Henry Golding) bring intrigue.
What Didn’t Work:
- Long delay since the first film made people forget the story.
- Confusing plot with lots of backstory and little explanation.
- Short runtime made it feel rushed.
- LGBTQ+ themes from the first film are almost removed.
- Abrupt cliffhanger ending without any confirmation of part 3.
The Old Guard 2 tries hard to bring back the magic of the original but the long gap, scattered story and confusing direction take away some of its impact. While it is still watchable for action lovers and Theron fans, it does not leave a strong impression.
