Pakistan has taken a major step in artificial intelligence with the launch of Urdu ChatGPT Qalb, the country’s first locally developed AI model created specially for the Urdu language.
The project was developed by Taimoor Hassan, a Pakistani student currently studying in the United States. Urdu ChatGPT Qalb is being described as the world’s largest AI language model built exclusively for Urdu speakers. It was trained on nearly 2 billion tokens and tested using more than seven international benchmarking systems.
What Makes Urdu ChatGPT Qalb Special
The developers state that Urdu ChatGPT Qalb is more effective than most of the current Urdu-based AI applications in real-life activities like writing, question answering, and familiarity with the local language use. This renders it more practical among common users, students and companies.
Who Built Urdu ChatGPT Qalb
Taimoor Hassan is a young entrepreneur who has launched and exited 13 startups. He is a former Microsoft Cup winner and has represented Pakistan on international platforms. He completed his Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from FAST University and is now pursuing a Master’s degree in Computer Science and Software Engineering at Auburn University in the US.
Why Urdu ChatGPT Qalb Matters for Pakistan
With more than 230 million Urdu speakers around the world, Urdu ChatGPT Qalb aims to close a long-standing technology gap. The model is designed to support education, startups, local businesses, digital platforms, and voice-based AI services in Pakistan’s national language.
Future Plans for Urdu ChatGPT Qalb
Hassan said the project is part of a wider mission to help Pakistan move forward in technology. He worked closely with teammates Jawad Ahmed and Muhammad Awais. The team plans to keep improving Urdu ChatGPT Qalb and develop more localized AI tools for different industries.
They believe innovation is no longer limited to large companies. Today, even small teams can build tools that educate people, automate work, and serve millions without needing massive budgets.
