The Karachi Traffic Police has officially declared a detailed road strategy and alternative routes of the main procession of martyrdom day of Hazrat Ali (RA). Due to the high security, several major streets throughout the city will remain closed to regular traffic on Wednesday.
According to the official plan, the main Youm-e-Ali (RA) parade will begin at the Nishtar Park at 1: 00 pm. It will pass through its traditional, allotted approaches and get to the Hussainia Iraniyan Imambargah.
Major Road Closures for Youm-e-Ali Procession
To keep the mourners safe and make the process flow, the authorities have fully blocked the following major routes.
- MA Jinnah Road: Closed from Guru Mandir Chowk all the way to Tower.
- Saddar Road: Closed from Empress Market up to Regal Chowk.
Alternative Routes for Commuters on Youm-e-Ali
In a bid to ease the people and in the effort to keep the traffic going, the Karachi Traffic Police has signified the following alternative routes:
At Nazimabad: At Lasbela Chowk, motorists can take a right turn and move forward towards Nishtar Road through Garden.
Commuters may use Teen Hatti to drive towards Lasbela Chowk or make a left turn towards Central Jail (Martin Road).
Hasan square to PP Chowrangi: Cars can either use Kashmir road through New town, or Sharea Quaideen through Society Light Signal or Jail Flyover to Teen Hatti and Nishtar road.
Sharea Faisal to Numaish: The commuters passing through Sharea Quaideen are advised to make a turn to the right side of the Society Light Signal, to Kashmir Road and the Jail Flyover.
Between Central Jail Gate (Jamshed Road) and MA Jinnah Road: Traffic will be diverted via Bahadur Yar Jang Road, Soldier Bazaar and Holy Family hospital and Coast guard route.
Between Manghopir Road and Pak Colony: Nishtar Road can be easily used by vehicles through the Garden Zoo and Ranchore Line.

Law Enforcement Agencies will seal Saddar, Empress Market & MA Jinnah Road (i.e. procession route) on 10/3/26 around 11:45pm, which will remain sealed till 10pm on 11/3/26.

Commercial and Heavy Traffic Restrictions
Heavy and commercial traffic heading towards the procession areas will be strictly diverted:
By Super Highway, Gulberg, and Liaquatabad: Commercial vehicles of MA Jinnah Road will be diverted at Liaquatabad No.10 towards Nazimabad Chowrangi No.2 and pass through Habib Bank Flyover, State Avenue Road, Sher Shah, and Mauripur.
Based on the National Highway: The traffic entering the city will be completed through Sharea Faisal, Rashid Minhas Road, Stadium Road, Sir Shah Suleman Road, Hasan Square, Liaquatabad No.10, and Nazimabad Chowrangi No.2, and then Sher Shah, Mauripur, and Habib Bank Flyover.
General Directives and Parking Ban
The traffic police have clarified that no regular vehicles will be allowed beyond Guru Mandir Chowk on the procession route. Entry onto MA Jinnah Road is strictly prohibited except for vehicles displaying official procession stickers.
Furthermore, it is only the vehicles with sabeel, niyaz, or tabarruk that will be permitted to enter into the procession road, on the Tower side only. Traffic violators are strictly forbidden to park in the line of the procession and the violators will be addressed correspondingly.
