The Punjab government has officially announced the dates for the 20th International Cholistan Desert Rally, scheduled to take place from February 4 to February 8, 2026. The announcement came during a high-level planning meeting chaired by Commissioner Musarrat Jabeen, aimed at reviewing preparations for the annual motorsport event that draws participants and spectators from around the world. The Cholistan Desert Rally is considered one of Pakistan’s premier motorsport events and plays a vital role in promoting the culture, heritage, and tourism potential of the Bahawalpur region.
Officials from multiple departments participated in the meeting via video link, including the Managing Director and General Manager of the Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab (TDCP), Deputy Commissioner Bahawalpur Dr. Farhan Farooq, Deputy Commissioner Zulfiqar Ahmad Bhon, district police officers, Additional Commissioner Coordination Nayar Mustafa, and Mahmood Majeed, President of the 4×4 Club. The meeting focused on ensuring a smooth execution of the rally, with special attention given to arrangements for international participants, security measures, and the overall organization of the event.
Commissioner Musarrat Jabeen highlighted that the rally is not just a motorsport competition but also an important platform to showcase the rich cultural heritage of Bahawalpur at an international level. She emphasized that alongside the high-speed racing events, cultural festivals and programs will be organized across Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, and Rahim Yar Khan to entertain and engage both local and international visitors.
In addition to cultural activities, the commissioner instructed officials to ensure the timely repair and rehabilitation of the rally track and surrounding roads, stressing that all necessary preparations for the 2026 event must be completed efficiently. The meeting also addressed coordination among law enforcement, tourism authorities, and sports organizations to guarantee a safe, enjoyable, and well-managed rally experience. With these measures in place, the 20th International Cholistan Desert Rally is set to continue its legacy as a major sporting and cultural event in Pakistan, attracting enthusiasts, tourists, and participants from across the globe.
