Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has reported a significant rise in the prize money of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026 which is expected to reward not only the success on the field but also the long term contribution to the development of the sport. In addition to the regular prize money, which will be announced later, the PSL 2026 champions will get $500,000 and the runners-up will receive $300,000, as the chairman of PCB Mohsin Naqvi announced.
Another new development has also been made by the PCB in the form of offering a franchise a prize of $200,000 to the franchise that makes the most contributions to the development of cricket. This implies that a team is no longer going to be judged based on how well they perform in the field only, but also in terms of their contribution towards developing young talent, regional cricket, as well as enhancement of coaching and facilities in the country.
Naqvi described that the development-based prize will become operational from the season 2026. Historically, the result of matches and brand recognition were the primary criteria used to evaluate PSL teams. Under this new incentive, franchises will invest in youth academies, age-group programs, regional scouting, coach training and facilities in underserved regions. What has been regarded as an optional corporate responsibility, may now prove to be a significant element of a team competitive strategy.
Complementing the Pakistan Super League's growth, I am thrilled to announce a new Reward for Franchises in the forthcoming editions:

– Champions: $500,000
– Runners-up: $300,000
– Best Franchise contributing towards Cricket Development: $200,000
Let's take Pakistan cricket to…
The added prize money in the champions and runners-up will keep the competition in the field and the development award will encourage the owners and management of the team to consider beyond a single season. When clearly executed, with open assessment and adequate supervision, this program has the potential to trigger a healthy competition among the franchises to invest prudently in the Pakistan cricket infrastructure.
Mohsin Naqvi had a vision in his announcement: “Let’s take Pakistan cricket to a new level. PSL 2026 will promote the best results on the field and the worthwhile contributions off the field with both performance and development awards, which will make the future of cricket in Pakistan stronger and more sustainable.
