Pakistan T20I Squad for Sri Lanka Tour Announced Ahead of Key Series

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially declared the Pakistan T20I Squad in Sri Lanka Tour whereby it has announced a 15-member squad to compete in the forthcoming three match series of T20 International that will be hosted in Sri Lanka in the following month. The team announcement marks a significant stage towards Pakistan preparing for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.

The most considerable event of the squad announcement is the comeback of Shadab Khan who returns after shoulder surgery. The versatile veteran played the last time in June on behalf of Pakistan, which was followed by rehabilitation in the National Cricket Academy. After restoring his fitness, Shadab is now playing in the Big Bash League (BBL 15) of Australia where he can be evaluated by the selectors on his readiness to match.

Salman Ali Agha has been kept as captain by the Men National Selection Committee in the same leadership format of the T20 format. The team is a mix of experience and young talent and in this respect, PCB has been keen to experiment with different combinations before major international events take place.

Notable among the inclusions are Khawaja Nafay, an uncapped wicketkeeper-batter, who has been given his maiden call-up despite good domestic performances and also in Pakistan Shaheens. The 23-year-old has a strike rate of 132.81 in 32 T20 matches and this has attracted the interest of the selectors.
