The PPL Gas Discovery Kohat marks another positive step for Pakistan’s energy sector. Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) has announced a new gas discovery at its exploratory well Bilitang-1, located in district Kohat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The update was shared through an official notice to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), confirming successful results from the Lockhart formation.
PPL Gas Discovery Kohat Announced to PSX
According to the PSX notice, the PPL Gas Discovery Kohat was made under the TAL Joint Venture, which includes:
- MOL Pakistan Oil & Gas Co. B.V. (Operator) – 10%
- OGDCL – 30%
- Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) – 30%
- Pakistan Oilfields Limited (POL) – 25%
- Government Holdings Private Limited (GHPL) – 5%
All partners worked together to explore and test the well successfully.
PPL Gas Discovery Kohat: Gas Flow Test Results
According to the tests, the rate of gas at the PPL Gas Discovery Kohat well was 1.37 Million Standard Cubic Feet Per Day (MMSCFD).
This test was carried out on a 32/64 inch choke with the Wellhead Flowing Pressure (WHFP) of 254 Psi of gas flow demonstrating a stable and commercial grade flow.
PPL Gas Discovery Kohat Boosts Future Exploration
PPL stated that the PPL Gas Discovery Kohat reduces exploration risk in the TAL Block and opens the door for more drilling opportunities in the area.
“This discovery has de-risked further exploration play in TAL Block, leading to new upside opportunities,” the company said in its statement.
The find is expected to help strengthen Pakistan’s local energy supply and reduce dependence on imports.
